straight from the workshop of tech wizard q, james bond’s aston martin db5 from the 1964 hit film goldfinger has been reworked, but into over 1,200 LEGO pieces. the newest line from the LEGO creator expert series, which is to be released on july 18th in LEGO stores and online, has models from the taj mahal to the london bridge.
this db5 model is not the first car classic or supercar to be reduced into model size, with the bugatti chiron released earlier this year. this db5 yet again combines mechanical sophistication with the relaxing yet always challenging build that LEGO presents. construct the nifty gadgets that helped 007 escape the stickiest situations from a working ejector seat, revolving number plates, radar tracker, hidden telephone, bulletproof shield, front wing machine guns to wheel mounted tyre scythes. the LEGO car is an exact 1:8 scale model with the exterior painted in silver birch, smooth curves and sleek edges, sloped headlamps and drum lacquered silver front and rear bumpers.
the iconic spy car has moulded silver wire wheel rim inserts that feature the classic aston martin wings that match the wings on the front and rear of the car. pop open the bonnet to find the iconic six cylinder engine and open the doors of the car to reveal a radar tracker, as well as a telephone tucked away in the secret door compartment.
